Riverside Center for Innovation, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Greene, Clarion, Butler, Fayette, Armstrong and Washington Co, $5,000

Funded by: LWVPA-CEF WREN Project, Drinking Water Source Water Protection Project 2008- 2009

Project Title:  River Alert and Information Network (RAIN) Education and Outreach Program

River, stream, watershed affected by this project:  Allegheny, Youghiogheny, Monongahela and parts of the Ohio Rivers

Partners: River Alert and Information Network (RAIN) members and California University of Pennsylvania

Focus: educate and increase awareness of source water protection strategies via three major events (side 2) aimed at thirty-three drinking water suppliers in the Allegheny, Youghiogheny and Monongahela watersheds in eight southwest PA counties.

Mountain Watershed Association, Inc., Westmoreland, Fayette counties, $5,000

Funded by: LWVPA-CEF WREN Project, Drinking Water Source Protection Project 2006-2007
Project Title: Biking Toward Stewardship
Area to be protected: Indian Creek Watershed
Partners: Trips for Kids, Indian Creek Valley Water Authority, Saltlick Township, Saltlick Township Volunteer Fire Department,   and National Speed Goat
Focus: expand use of the national “Trips for Kids” program to introduce children to mountain biking while they learn about things they can do to protect the Indian Creek watershed and the sources that provide their drinking water. Develop a brochure.

Focus: post Water Supply Area signs, produce brochures, and make presentations about source water protection throughout the community

Focus: hold the second annual children's water festival
