Project Title: West Perry SWP Community Based Education Outreach
Area to be protected: Sherman's Creek

Partners: Blain Borough, Blain Borough Elementary School, Jackson Township, Perry County Conservation District, Perry County Planning Commission, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, District 3, Tuscarora State Forest

Focus: use a portable display, an EnviroScape model, lesson plans, and Farm*A*Syst seminars to demonstrate to students and adults in Blain Borough and Jackson Township how their actions in the Bower's Run watershed can impact the source of their drinking water and what they can do to protect it.

Focus: develop a Water Resource Center at Juniata College

Focus: To produce a newsletter, fact sheets, and traveling program about the Shermans Creek watershed and to improve the on-going water quality monitoring program, from which data will be available through the newsletter to local citizens.

The Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring at Dickinson College, and Shermans Creek Conservation Association
The coalition will conduct both visual assessment and chemical and biological monitoring of Shermans Creek with the goal developing a scientifically based study that will presented to local decision makers to assist with land development planning.
